HOLLIS – Tyler and Madison Hardy of Brookdale Fruit Farm in Hollis, winners of the 2016 New Hampshire Farm Bureau Young Farmer Achievement Award, were pleased to accept their grand prize on Wednesday, April 26. Each year, the achievement award winner(s) receive the use of a brand new Kubota Tractor courtesy of Kubota Tractor Corporation and Pinnacleview Equipment in Walpole, for six months or 250 hours. The couple was excited to watch as a new Kubota M5-111 narrow tractor rolled into the yard.

“What an honor it is to receive the Kubota tractor as part of our achievement award,” Madison said. “Thank you to New Hampshire Farm Bureau and Pinnacleview Equipment for a great opportunity to use this brand new narrow orchard tractor.” The Hardys worked closely with Pinnacleview’s Mike Snide to select a tractor that would best fit the needs of their farm. “We will make great use of it in our high density apple plantings for mowing and spraying,” Madison explained.

NHFB has partnered with Pinnacleview Equipment and Kubota to provide this prize since 1992. Scott Mason, who served as NHFB Young Farmer Chair at the time and later went on to serve as National YF&R Chair, presented the idea of partnering with a tractor company to provide a prize for the Achievement Award and Snide was able to secure the cooperation of Kubota. For the last 25 years, the program has benefited outstanding young farmers in the Granite State.

“We had a wonderful opportunity at that time with the future Farm Bureau leaders who put that project together and great cooperation with Mike Snide and Kubota,” said Mason. “It’s a real tribute to Mike Snide to see that the program is still continuing today.”
