Library, Hollis youth give back to community

With the help of library volunteers, local kids get their hands dirty while planting flowers as part of the clean up and beautification program.

The Hollis Social Library hosted a clean up and beautification program in July 5, during which area children helped spruce up the library grounds, including planting flowers that were donated by Lull Farms. On July 13, local kids created blankets for families in need during the Knotted Blanket program. The toddler-sized blankets were donated to a local agency. Both events were modeled after the library’s theme for its Summer Reading program, “Build a Better World,” with a specific focus on community and service.

Upcoming youth programs:

• Tuesdays at 10 a.m.: Baby and toddler storytime (ages 0-3) and preschool storytime in the children’s room.

Thursday, Aug. 3 10-11 a.m.: Pat & Her Puppets (ages 0-7) in the children’s room.

• Tuesday, Aug. 8, 4:30 p.m.: Kid’s Chess Club in the library meeting room.
