Manchester man was victim of fatal crash in Merrimack on Saturday
Merrimack police identified the driver and victim of a fatal crash on Baboosic Lake Road on Saturday afternoon as 36-year-old Manchester resident, Juan Lerma Estrada.
At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, rescuers found Estrada, of Prescott Street in Manchester, in the driver’s seat of a 1999 Audi A6 that had left Baboosic Lake Road near Bambi Trail and smashed into a tree, police said Monday.
Estrada had severe injuries and he was rushed to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Merrimack police accident reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
Police said the vehicle was headed south on Baboosic Lake Road when it left the roadway and the driver’s side collided with a large tree. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
The road is relatively straight in the area where the crash occurred.
Baboosic Lake Road was closed between Bambi Trail and Madeline Bennett Lane, the road that leads to Merrimack Middle School, for about four hours Saturday while police conducted an on-scene investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Merrimack police Sgt. Brian Levesque at 424-3774.
