Pets of the week for Feb. 23

Humane Society for Greater Nashua

GILLY

I’m Gilly, a 5-year-old pointer mix looking to settle down with my new family. I’m an all-around sweet guy who likes other dogs and all people (no cats, please!).

I tend to be a bit exuberant when I play, so I would need to live with another dog and older kids who could handle my play style. I would really enjoy a new family who is active and ready to include me in all of their fun.

Ideally, my home would include a canine friend to play with, kids to be silly around and adults who will cuddle with me at the end of the day!

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is at 24 Ferry Road, Nashua. Hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit www.hsfn.org, call 889-2275 or email hsfn@hsfn.org.

MISSY

Hi, there! I’m a young-at-heart 10-year-old kitty who is ready to make someone the best companion.

You can find me spending my days in the office here, where I like to just watch the world go by. I’m a bit shy in this environment with all of the hustle and bustle, and I need a quiet home where I can have some time to settle in.

You’ll recognize me by my gorgeous markings, and once you’re drawn in by my pretty looks, don’t forget to scratch my chin – I love that!

I know that with a little time to learn to trust, I’ll be a wonderful addition to your family and a great pet for anyone in need of some company and TLC.

SMOKEY

Handsome Smokey is a year-old German shepherd/Rottweiler cross. He’s tan and black and weighs 90 pounds.

Smokey loves people and his dog buddies at day care. He has high energy. He loves to play, and prances like he’s in a marching band when visitors approach.

He would do best in an active adult home without cats or small animals. Smokey is working hard on basic manners. He likely had to protect his food to survive, so he does have food guarding behavior.

However, he is under a professional, easy-to-follow training program to address this, and has made significant progress.

He’s strong on leash, and will need continued training to allow him to blossom.

He’s been in the lonely shelter forever, it seems, and has watched his kennelmates go to new homes – but still he waits with hope in his heart.

He needs a loving, patient and knowledgeable home to nurture him.

Hours are by appointment only. For more information, visit www.arnne.org, email info@arnne.org or call 233-4801.

Meet our adoptable pets at our monthly Pet Adoption Day at the Pelham Congregational Church, 3 Main St. The next one is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 22.
