NH Jewish Film Festival to present ‘Body and Soul’

The 2014 New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival will return Tuesday, Dec. 16, with a special event film and speaker presentation of “Body and Soul: The State of the Jewish Nation,” a new documentary film by award-winning filmmaker Gloria Z. Greenfield.

The Jewish Federation of New Hampshire in conjunction with its film and speaker sponsor, NH4Israel, will present the New Hampshire premiere of the film at 7 p.m. at the JFNH building in Manchester.

The film presents a comprehensive examination of the broad connections between the Jewish people and Israel. Historians, archaeologists, political scientists, religious leaders, and international law and media experts trace the evolution of the relationship that is more than 3,000 years old.

Greenfield produced The Case for Israel – Democracy’s Outpost, released by Doc Emet Productions in 2008. This film was featured at the first N.H. Jewish Film Festival in 2009.

“Body and Soul – The State of the Jewish Nation” held its world premiere in Jerusalem on Oct. 20, followed by its North American premiere in New York City on Oct. 27. The New England premiere was held in Boston to a sold-out audience on Oct. 28.

The film and post-film discussion with Greenfield will be presented on the first night of Hanukkah. A Hanukkah dessert reception will follow to celebrate the first night of the Festival of Lights.
