Remembering Merrimack in 2014
MERRIMACK – Activities begin slowly in January as people rest after the hectic holidays.
Then things begin to speed up. Girls sign up for Scout troops, candidates file for public office, Parks and Recreation plans for the Winter Carnival.
Then comes the Horseshoe Fish and Game Club’s annual ice fishing derby, and later, Valentine’s Day adds a bit of welcome warmth.
In the spring, Mastricola Upper Elementary School students enjoy the challenge of the firefighters muster, and the town’s annual Easter egg hunt brings the littlest kids outside to run in the snow and sun.
In May, hundreds of people line the streets for the Memorial Day parade, and soon, summer is in full gear, with swimming and camping at local lakes.
Summer also brings Independence Day, when Merrimack goes all out with a parade, concert and Family Fun Day.
Fall means back to school, and before we know it, the winter holidays arrive, and along with them, the town’s tree lighting parade.
In this issue of the Merrimack Journal, we remember some of these 2014 events in photos.
