Merrimack restaurants in cook-off

BROOKLINE – The town of Brookline will hold its annual Brookline and Merrimack Valley Chili/Chowder/Soup Cook-Off from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Brookline Event Center, 32 Proctor Hill Road (Route 130).

The event, with more than 500 attendees last year, was previously organized by the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce. This year, the cook-off is adding soup to the popular chili and chowder categories.

Restaurateurs from Amherst, Bedford, Brookline, Hollis, Mason, Merrimack, Milford and Nashua, and Townsend and Pepperell, Mass., will participate.

Judging will be between noon and 2:30 p.m., and the first-and second-prize winners will be announced at 2:45. Attendees can participate in the judging by filling out a voting ballot.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 children younger than 12 and $25 for a family. For more information, visit brookline.nh.us, look under “Town News” and click on the link.
