Art, photography competitions join Merrimack July Fourth events

MERRIMACK – The Rotary Club of Merrimack announced it will hold art and photography competitions open to everyone during the Fourth of July festivities.

“Art and photography work of any subject and medium will be accepted, but we are especially hopeful to see images which reflect the town of Merrimack,” said Robert Best, July 4th Family Fun Day coordinator.

Artists and photographers are encouraged to submit art and photography work that is framed and ready to hang with wire. Works should not exceed 24 inches by 30 inches with frame.

Pieces should be brought to the arts and crafts tent on the grounds of Mastricola Elementary School anytime before 1 p.m. July 4.

Voting for awards will take place throughout the day by popular vote, and awards will be announced after 7 p.m. July 4.

Entry forms can be downloaded at merrimack4th.com.

Children also will have the opportunity to create their own art on the day of the event. At the arts and crafts tent, children will be encouraged to create watercolor paintings that demonstrate their favorite things about the Fourth of July.

This event will take place from 2:30-6:30 p.m. After the event, awards will be decided by popular vote.

First prize for photography and artwork in the youth and adult competition will be a $25 gift card for each category winner, courtesy of the Merrimack Rotary Club.
