LeetStreet singer, ‘Geekgal’ to appear at Nashua Library ComicFest

NASHUA – Matt Myers, lead singer of the LeetStreet Boys, and “Geekgal” Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe will be featured guests at the Nashua Library ComicFest on Saturday, June 20.

Myers will present three panels during the day: “Video Game Music Appreciation,” “Producing Animation” and “LeetStreet Boys Q&A,” when audience members will be able to ask him anything they want about the band.

Hodge-Wetherbe will present “Give Yourself … 12% of the Credit: The Female Perspective in Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers.’?”

And Erin Bowman, author of young-adult sci-fi books such as “Taken” and “Forged,” will speak about creativity and the publishing process.

ComicFest, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., is the kickoff for the library’s kids, teen and adult summer reading programs. Get your geek on at the event, which is free and open to the public.

Something for every fandom will be happening at ComicFest. You can play “Minecraft,” board games and video games. Watch a larping demo of boffer combat. Read anime and manga in the teen room or watch anime in the library theater.

For kids, the day will includes open Lego play, a performance by singer-songwriter Steve Blunt, superhero mask making, a book giveaway, face painting and board games.

One of the highlights will be a cosplay contest, with plenty of prizes for both experienced and novice cos-players. The library’s Image Gallery will be filled with artists displaying and selling their comics, drawings, crafts and geeky jewelry.
