Play cribbage? Join a weekly league in Merrimack
Do you play cribbage on your smartphone, tablet or computer? Did you play cribbage with your family years ago and would like to rekindle the fun you had? Perhaps you have a group of friends who get together and occasionally play?
The Merrimack Cribbage League is a growing league looking to add new players. But don’t let the word "league" be intimidating.
"We are a fun, relaxed group that gets together Wednesday evenings," said Scott Mortimer, co-organizer of the Merrimack Cribbage League. "We don’t play with ‘muggins.’ Everyone can help out counting the big hands."
The league plays Wednesday evenings at the Merrimack VFW, 282 Daniel Webster Highway. Games are played on the second floor, where alcohol and smoking are not permitted.
The start time is flexible – usually between 5:15 and 5:45p.m. Teams can begin when all four players arrive. Ten games of two versus two are played.
No partner? No problem. The organizers of the league help new members with league play.
Cribbage is a social card game that combines strategy with a little bit of luck.
"More often than not, I rely on a lot a bit of luck," Mortimer joked. "But that’s where the fun comes in."
Anyone can join the league. Players who are unable to commit to a full season or just want to try it out are welcome.
