Small Business Saturday will be held on Nov. 28

The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce is planning the first Small Business Saturday in Merrimack.

A kickoff will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Abbie Griffin Park. The first 100 attendees will receive a free Shop Small canvas tote bag. Everyone will be given a map of participating locations, along with a passport, and will be entered in special "Shop Small raffles" that will be drawn all day. You could win free flowers for a year from Merrimack Flower Shop.

Each purchase at participating locations will earn stamps on your event passport, and each full passport can be turned in as a drawing entry for great prizes, including a free family membership at the YMCA. Each store will be hosting its own specials on Nov. 28, ranging from discounts to refreshments; however, the passport event will run until Wednesday, Dec. 9.

A prize drawing will be held at the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce’s holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 10. The winner does not need to be present.

Your purchases will not only support local businesses and your community, but will also earn you chances in the special passport drawings.

"As a small business, it’s tough to compete with Black Friday deals," said Merrimack Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Shepherd. "That’s why the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce is organizing the first ever Small Business Saturday in Merrimack. This is local businesses’ chance to increase sales and customers this holiday season."

Among the participants are retail shops, services, restaurants, nonprofit businesses, organizations, and at-home businesses and those without a storefront.
