Police department’s ‘Night of Laughs’ is rescheduled

Merrimack’s most valuable resource is its children.

It is a tragedy for a child to be enticed by the lure of drugs and alcohol. If a child falls off a bicycle and breaks an arm, eventually the bone will heal. If a child becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol, the recovery can last a lifetime.

It is incumbent upon each and every one of us to protect our best interest, as they become our future leaders. This responsibility must be shared not only by area law enforcement, but also by every member of the community.

Once again, the Merrimack Police Union, New England Police Benevolent Association Local 12 , is conducting a fundraising campaign. Over the next several weeks, we will be contacting local businesses to sponsor an ad in our Emergency Response Program Booklet.

As a thank you to the community, we will he holding our annual "Night of Laughs" Comedy Show on Saturday, Jan. 16, with 7 and 9 p.m. shows, at the Alpine Grove Banquet Facility in Hollis. The show was rescheduled from an earlier date. Tickets purchased for the postponed show will be honored.

These shows for age 21 and older will feature three comedians from the Boston area who have appeared on Letterman, Leno, Sirius Radio, at Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and more.

Everyone helping will receive complimentary tickets to the show and an official receipt. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go toward youth sports scholarships, holiday food baskets for the needy and the many other worthwhile endeavors the Merrimack Police Union NEPBA Local 12 supports throughout the year.

Corporate sponsorships are greatly appreciated. Corporate sponsors receive a logo on the front cover, a two-page spread, complimentary tickets for staff or charity and announcements at the event as the corporate sponsor. Levels are: Gold Corporate Sponsorship, $5,000; Silver Corporate Sponsorship, $3,000; Bronze Corporate Sponsorship, $2,000.

The souvenir program is an 8.5- by 11-inch publication.
