TOPS chapter planning for 25th anniversary

NASHUA – Current members of Nashua TOPS chapter NH 0131 who have served as chapter leaders recently met as the chapter begins planning for a 25th anniversary event to be held Friday, Jan. 15.

The current chapter members who have served as leaders over the last 25 years are Ginny Fellows, of Merrimack; Sally Sanborn, of Merrimack; Claire Kelly, of Hollis; and Pat Kudzma, of Nashua.

Fellows is the present leader and Kudzma was a member of the original board when the Nashua chapter was started in 1991.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Milwaukee. Local TOPS chapters are led by volunteers elected by their peers.

TOPS members work to achieve a goal weight set in consultation with a member’s health care professional. Weekly meetings begin with a private weigh-in for each member, which is followed by roll call, an opportunity for members to share challenges, successes or goals. The meetings help members learn to eat better, move more and stay motivated through engaging educational programs presented each week.

A key element that sets TOPS apart is the recognition and celebrating of member successes in losing weight or maintaining their weight goals.

The Nashua TOPS club meets at 10 a.m. Fridays in the lower level of the Nashua Baptist Church, 555 Broad St.
