Program features former Merrimack admiral
Richard Pease will be the speaker at a Merrimack Historical Society program on Tuesday, Jan. 19, about Adm. Forrest Sherman.
Sherman was born in Merrimack, attending McGaw Institute before going to the U.S. Naval Academy. He participated in World War I, World War II and the Korean conflict. He lived from 1896-1951, and was the youngest man ever to serve as chief of naval operations until 1970.
The meeting will be held in the Klumpp Room at the Merrimack Public Library, and is co-hosted by the library. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.The speaker will begin at 7 p.m., but will be preceded by a short business meeting at 6:30.
