Merrimack actor in ‘Giant Peach’
NASHUA – "Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it": That was the motto of author Roald Dahl, who has made several generations believe in his magical fables.
Join the Peacock Players as they present the New Hampshire debut of the new musical adaptation of Dahl’s "James and the Giant Peach" for two weekends in March at the Janice B. Streeter Theater, 14 Court St.
The cast will include Sophia Desilets, of Merrimack.
"James and the Giant Peach" is the musical tale of a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit.
The Peacock Players were the recent recipient of seven New Hampshire Theatre Awards and 13 Top Three Finalist honors at the 2016 New Hampshire Theatre Awards ceremony.
"James and the Giant Peach" will be directed by Peacock Players resident artist MaryEllen Stevenson. Sarah Evans (musical director), Alyssa Dumas (choreographer), Keith Weirich (scenic and lighting design), Maggie Mahony (costume design), Norm St. Germain (lighting design) and Rich Loomer (sound design) will also contribute to the project.
The Peacock Players will offer free audience enrichment opportunities. Meet your favorite characters onstage after each performance, and join them on Sunday, March 13, for a free post-show audience discussion with the artists who helped create the production.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, March 11; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 12; 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13; 7 p.m. Friday, March 18; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 19; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20.
