Merrimack 69, Pinkerton 68 (OT)

The Tomahawks boys basketball team earned one of its most meaningful wins of the season, topping Pinkerton Academy in OT to close the regular season last week.

Merrimack finished 12-6 overall and earned the No. 5 seed in the Division I tournament. The Tomahawks hosted No. 12 Bishop Guertin in a preliminary-round matchup Wednesday. Results were not available by Merrimack Journal press time.

Merrimack Men’s Slo-Pitch Softball

Saturday, April 16, has been set as the date for the annual tryout and draft for the Merrimack Men’s Slo-Pitch Softball League’s upcoming season. An additional tryout date of Wednesday, April 13, will be available for players that cannot make the April 16 date. The league, which plays on Monday and Wednesday evenings in Merrimack from early May through mid-September, continues to look for new players to fill out its team rosters.

Players are placed on teams through a draft process that aims to maintain competitive balance in the league. The tryout is used to help teams draft players in order by need based on skills and abilities. Every effort is made to place all eligible players on teams. To be eligible, men must be at least 18 years of age, must not currently be attending high school, and must either live or work in Merrimack. Interested players are asked to contact league president, Tom Boland, at for more information or to register for the tryout.
