Ayotte congratulates Merrimack youth program delegate
WASHINGTON, D.C. – At a recent ceremony on Capitol Hill, U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte congratulated Diab "Dody" Eid, of Nashua, and Jacob Marcus, of Merrimack, New Hampshire’s 2016 delegates to the U.S. Senate Youth Program.
They joined more than 100 students from across the country in Washington to participate in a weeklong program to learn more about the federal government.
Eid is a senior at Nashua High School South and Marcus attends Merrimack High School.
"New Hampshire is lucky to have Dody and Jacob representing our state this year, and I’m delighted that they were selected for this excellent program," Ayotte said. "Dody and Jacob have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies and a strong interest in public service, and I’m proud to congratulate them on their achievements."
During its 54 year history, the USSYP has brought more than 5,000 students to the nation’s capital for an intensive weeklong study of the government. While in Washington, the student delegates attend meetings and briefings with senators and congressional staff, the president, a Supreme Court Justice, Cabinet officials and other government leaders. The students also have the opportunity to tour many of the national monuments and historic sites in the nation’s capital.
