Merrimack High to hold Empty Bowls on March 23

The National Art Honor Society and the art department at Merrimack High School will host the seventh biennial Empty Bowls from 6-8 p.m Wednesday, March 23, in the cafeteria.

Tickets are a $13 donation. They are on sale through the art department and National Art Honor Society, and at the door.

Empty Bowls is an international arts service project held at Merrimack High School. Ceramic bowls are made by students and staff, and sold at a community supper of soup, bread and beverages.

Many area restaurants donate soup to this event, so you have a chance to sample their food. Feel free to have as many different soups as you would like – the National Art Honor Society students will rinse your bowl between each serving.

The money raised from the sale of the bowls goes toward feeding the hungry in Merrimack. The school has collected more than $3,000 at its Empty Bowls suppers, which it has given to Merrimack food pantries and food banks.

The evening is filled with the delicious smell and taste of a variety of soups. Music plays while people enjoy food, art and warm, friendly conversation.
