Merrimack Police Department to hold open house

The Merrimack Police Department will hold its free open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

Here is the schedule of events:

10 a.m.: Opening ceremony: Presentation of Colors by Merrimack Police Department Honor Guard; Merrimack school students will play national anthem; prayer and blessing by Pastor and MPD Chaplain Steve Closs; lowering of colors to half staff and lighting of the memorial candle commemorating the start of Police Memorial Week; playing of taps by a Merrimack High School student; welcome remarks from Chief Doyle and the Town Council; and the Crimeline donation to the K-9 program from the magic show.

10:30 and 11 a.m.: K-9 demo.

11:30 and 12:30: Bomb robot demo (Nashua Police Department).

Noon: Taser demo.

11 a.m.-1 p.m.: A Clydesdale from Anheuser-Busch will be available for petting and photos.

All day: Nashua Police Department Bomb Squad; Crimeline concession stand; Merrimack PD DARE car, motorcycle, OHRVs, Incident Crime Vehicle; New Hampshire Army National Guard; Merrimack High robotics team; Amherst Ortho; face painting; Silent Bike Auction (the last name on the list at 1 p.m. will own the bike); balloon maker; New Hampshire State Police; New Hampshire Liquor Enforcement; DJ Mike Kelley; Manchester PD Mounted Unit; New Hampshire Fire Marshall Sean Plumer with his K-9 pal; Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire; and many more agencies.
