Garden Club prepping for annual plant sale
The Merrimack Garden Club has been busy these past couple of months preparing for its annual plant sale.
Armed with shovels and gloves, club members meet at the homes of friends and members and do what they call a "dig." They dig, divide and pot plants in preparation for the plant sale. It’s a lot of work, but the club comes together and works as a team to make the sale a success.
The funds raised from the plant sale help defray the costs of programs, workshops and speakers the club offers at its monthly meetings. You’ll also see this nonprofit group around town maintaining the grounds at St. James United Methodist Church and the Merrimack Public Library. The club is responsible many community beautification efforts.
The plant sale will be from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 11, rain or shine, at St. James Church, 646 Daniel Webster Highway. It will have hundreds of perennials donated from local gardens. It also will have some unusual specialty plants from local growers that are hardy for our zone. Club members will be on hand to answer questions and can recommend the best plants for the area you’re cultivating.
The club also will have raffles of items from local vendors.
If you have an item you would like to donate to the raffle, want more information on the sale or email email@example.com or visit www.merrimackgardenclub.org.
