Chamber announces new ‘Welcome to Merrimack’ signs

MERRIMACK – The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce recently refaced the town’s ‘Welcome to Merrimack’ signs, located on Daniel Webster Highway at the Bedford and Nashua town lines. The original signs had been on display for nearly 30 years, since 1988.

Featured on the new signs are the Chamber’s sustaining partners: ConvenientMD, Fidelity Investments and Staples. Also featured, are local clubs and organizations. Chamber member All Seasons Promotions redesigned the signs so that they can be easily updated.

"We are very excited that we were able to get the signs redone. This project has been in the works for a while now," said Dawn Shepherd, president. "It was a true community effort."

Once the signs were refaced, the Chamber enlisted help to beautify the area around the signs. Merrimack DPW provided the loam, which they deposited at both locations. P&L Landscaping cleared a large area around the signs, and spread the loam. The Merrimack Garden Club then mulched and planted the garden, which features native and non-native perennial plants that are drought hardy, deer resident and heat resistant. The garden club planned the garden to have blooming plants in the spring, summer and fall, and added native plants, including our state flower, the lilac. Plants were provided by seed money from the Chamber and donations from the Merrimack Garden Club.

Shepherd added, "We greatly appreciate the assistance provided by P&L Landscaping, Merrimack DPW and the garden club. They all jumped on board when asked to help. We are thankful to be part of such a supportive community."

For more information on having your business or club displayed on the signs, contact the Chamber at 424-3669.
