The Lioness of Merrimack begins its annual Operation Santa Project
The Lioness of Merrimack has begun its Operation Santa Project! Look for Christmas trees at the following locations: The Merrimack Post Office, Merrimack Public Library, Total Chiropractic Health Center, Fit Lab at the Commons, Fit Lab on Amherst Street in Nashua, Merrimack Vision Care, Frank’s Place, Hot Rize, D.W. Diner, and The Homestead Restaurant.
The club receives a list of people in Merrimack who are in need of help from the welfare department. We take the list, type up a card for each client, and these cards are then placed on the trees. Residents of Merrimack pick a card and purchase one or more items from the card and return the gifts unwrapped to the location that they got the card from. After the deadline, (Dec. 8), the members of the club get together at the Town Hall and prepare gift bags for each recipient.
Who participates in this program? Many people purchase gifts, from individuals, to families, to businesses, brownie troops, elementary school students take a card for their class, middle school cluster students. The Merrimack Fire Department has been a huge supporter of this project, as well as, the Merrimack Lions Club. Community spirit really shines forth as Merrimack residents dig down in their pockets to aid our project. These are very trying times this year with the economic crisis and a lot of people need our help. We are confident we will have everyone’s support again this year! The club extends to everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!
