Teen on top in chess tourney

On Saturday, March 18, New Hampshire students from grades K-12 participated in the 2017 N.H. Scholastic Individual Chess Tournament hosted by Tournament in a Box officials Vince Bradley and Thomas Cassar in Londonderry. Local teen Robert Sawdey, shown, a sophomore from Merrimack High School, took first place in the high school level winning all four games of the tournament. Sawdey will participate in the 2017 GM Denker Tournament of High School Champions in Norfolk, Va., this summer. The GM Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions invites the winners of the U.S. Chess State Affiliate championships of each state to compete for the title of 2017 GM Denker Champion of Champions.
