Summer job opportunities with Merrimack Parks & Recreation

The town’s parks and recreation department is hiring now for season summer jobs, including a preschool camp manager, water safety instructors, archery instructors and more.

Are you looking for a job where you get to spend the summer being active outdoors and having fun? Then the Merrimack Parks and Recreation Department has the perfect summer job for you. All of the following positions are seasonal summer employment opportunities.

• Preschool Camp Manager (Part-Time Seasonal; 25 hrs/wk): This position is within the Naticook Junior Adventures Camp and is a part-time position that works 25 hours per week. The preschool camp manager directs and manages all aspects of an eight week summer day camp program for up to 20 children between the ages of 3-5 years old. The camp director will handle the day to day operations of the camp including programming, staff and family relations throughout the summer and be responsible for teaching activities. Anyone interested in applying must be at least 21 years of age.

• Special Needs Aides (Full-Time Seasonal: 40 hrs/wk): There are three openings left for one-on-one aid positons. Special needs aides are primarily responsible for working in a one-on-one setting with a child who has special needs. The goal of the person is helping to integrate the assigned child into the day camp program. Anyone interested in applying must be at least 18 years of age.

• Water Safety Instructors (Full-Time Seasonal: 40 hrs/wk): Water safety instructors work full-time, 40 hours per week and are responsible for teaching group swimming lessons to children according to American Red Cross Swimming Lessons Standards. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and be certified as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or equivalent.

• Archery Instructor (Full-Time Seasonal: 40 hrs/wk): This position is responsible for teaching and leading the archery programs at Naticook Day Camp for children between the ages of 7-14. Candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the archery range and all equipment and teaching daily classes. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, experience shooting archery and hold a level 1 Archery Instructors Certification or be willing to obtain one.

• Adventure Activity Specialist (Full-Time Seasonal; 40 hrs/wk): This position is responsible for coordinating and leading adventure education activities at Naticook Day Camp. The specialist will develop, plan and lead daily adventure challenge activities that help campers overcome obstacles or fears, and build life skills. Candidate must be at least 18 years if age and have experience in team building activities, problem solving or low ropes skills.

• Weekend Park Attendant (Part-Time Seasonal, 16 hrs/wk): This position is part-time and works Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. from late June until late August. This person is responsible for staffing the Wasserman Park Beach on weekend, enforcing park rules and cleaning the grounds near the waterfront. Applicants must be 18 years of age and able to work independently.
