Merrimack summer farmers market opens for the season

Ripe and juicy tomatoes locally grown along with a wide variety of other offerings produced from a community of local farmers, dairymen and craftsmen will be showcased at the upcoming Merrimack Farmers Market.

The debut of this season’s summer market will take place 3-6 p.m., on Wednesday, June 13, at the Vault Motor Storage parking lot, 526 Daniel Webster Highway. The market will be open for 18 Wednesday afternoon sessions.

A variety of vendors is anticipated and many will be returning from previous seasons. Vegetables, fruit and honey, along with maple syrup, handcrafted bakery and natural products including soaps, wines and locally raised meats are expected to be abundant.

Bob McCabe, chairman of the Merrimack Agricultural Commission, recently extended thanks to the Morgan family, owners of Vault Motor Storage for their continued support at the location, one whose facility provides climate-controlled storage for many types of vehicles.

McCabe credits the dedication of supporters who have patronized the market over its 11 seasons for the market’s continued success. He recently said visitors can expect “a few surprises” this season.

McCabe said he thanks the volunteers whose posts on Facebook keep the public abreast of market happenings. He also thanks all whose visits to the summer location continue to prove that the healthy benefits of locally grown products are recognized and appreciated.
