Helen Anne Marchocki
BURLINGTON, Mass. – Helen Anne Marchocki of Maynard, Mass., died peacefully surrounded by her children at Lahey Hospital on April 5, 2014. She was 83.
Born in Lynn on Feb. 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Gapska) Nowalk. Her family bought Maplewood Farm in Concord in 1946. Helen helped run and was the last family member to live on the dairy and vegetable farm, now part of Minute Man National Historical Park.
Helen was a 1949 graduate of Concord High School and earned her registered nursing degree from Salem Hospital Nursing School in 1952. She worked at many Boston area hospitals, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Emerson Hospital. She also was a nursing supervisor at King Khalid Military City Hospital in Saudi Arabia. She worked at Lahey Hospital from 2003 until her retirement in 2011.
She leaves four children, Stanley and his wife, Joanne, of Westford, Kathryn of Mont Vernon, N.H., Jeanette of Maynard, and Paul; a granddaughter, Natalie; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward H. Nowalk, who died in 1994; and her former husband, Stanley A. Marchocki, who died in 2008.
There are no calling hours. A Mass and celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 12 Monument St., Concord Center.
