Esther O’Donnell Hutchinson

Esther Elizabeth O’Donnell Hutchinson, 83, passed away at her home in Bennington, NH, during the evening of March 14th. She valiantly fought the pancreatic cancer that had invaded her body and is blessed that the pain and suffering are over.

Born in Watertown, MA, in June of 1930, she traveled with her family in June 1945 to Lyndeborough, NH, graduating from the Milford High School in 1948. She married Lester (Bud) Hutchinson, Jr. in 1954. They built their home from which they raised their three children in Wilton, NH. Esther and Bud retired to their “Camp” on Lake Whittemore, located in Bennington, NH, in 1994.

Esther excelled in Bookkeeping; her career path included working for the South Western Company, Superintendent of Schools, Select Press and most recently for Wrenn Construction. Active in the County Extension and Jazzercise groups, she also found time to enjoy reading, liquid embroidery, traveling and dancing whenever the opportunity arose.

Devoted to her family and friends, Esther was also an avid fan of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; weekends would find her at many events throughout the year; cheering them on at various sports including Snowmobile Races, Horse Shows and Charity Fund Raisers.

In addition to her husband, surviving family members include her sister Mary Mackintosh of Milford, brother Thomas O’Donnell and his wife Phyllis of Rochester, NY; sister-in-Law Phyllis O’Donnell of Grandbury, TX; daughters Deanna Jackson and her husband, Matt of Poland, ME and Jayne Driscoll and her husband, Marty of Tempe, AZ; son Greg Hutchinson and his wife, Bambi of Wilton, NH; grandsons Jessy Moudry and his wife, Rumdoul of Queen Creek, AZ and Jeremy Hutchinson of Wilton, NH; great-grandchildren include Madisson Hutchinson-Somero, Dominic Hutchinson, Evan Moudry and Kayla Tallon. Esther was also very close to her nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on May 10, 2014 in Wilton, NH; visiting hours at the Michaud Funeral Home from 10 A.M.-12 P.M. with Mass at the Sacred Heart Church in Wilton, NH, at 12:30 PM. Followed by burial in the South Cemetery in Lyndeborough, NH. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Historical Societies of Bennington or Lyndeborough, NH.
