Frank R. ‘Pete’ Flanders

Frank R. “Pete” Flanders, 88, of Milford, NH died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.

He was born in Nashua, NH on July 9, 1926 a son of the late Frank R. Flanders and Flora (Wise) Flanders Keller.

Frank was a US Navy veteran serving from 1943 to 1946 during WWII on the USS Roy O. Hale and then when he re-enlisted he was assigned to the USS Waxsaw from 1948-1950.

He was a resident of Merrimack for 62 years. Frank was the first appointed full-time Merrimack Police Chief and instituted the first training protocols for new police recruits for the department. He moved to Milford in 1988 and was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church. Frank dearly loved his family, and his grand and great grand children were a great joy to him. He also loved people, and he was happiest when he could find a way to help someone, and also to make then laugh. He retired from
Anheuser-Busch in 1988.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Ralph, and Donald Flanders; and two sisters, Dorothy Zintel and Pauline Burgess.

Members of his family include his loving wife of 68 years, Eleanor (Richards) Flanders of Milford; two sons, Frank “Rob” Flanders and his wife Lea of Temple, NH and Jim Flanders and his wife Donna of Milford, NH; three grandsons, Michael, Jamie, and Peter Flanders; 6 great-
grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Flanders of Garland, TX and George “Chip” Keller and his wife Debbie of Merrimack; two sisters, Elizabeth “Libby” O’Gara of Merrimack, and Evelyn and her husband David Glover of Hollis; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be private in the NH Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. A Memorial Service will be held at the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 North River Road, Milford, NH on Saturday, November 1st at 2 PM.

Family asks that those who wish, they may make a memorial contribution to a charity of one’s choice, or to perform random acts of kindness.
