Kenneth J. Callan

HOLIDAY, Fla. – Kenneth J. Callan, 67, died October 20, 2014 at his home in Holiday. He was born in Queens, NY on July 27, 1947, the son of Joseph and Mary (Chrapek) Callan.

Ken attended Dayton College in Ohio and later graduated from Belknap College in NH. He then served briefly in the National Guard. After moving to New Hampshire in 1979, Ken worked as a computer programmer for Hitchiner Manufacturing and retired after 24 years of service. He then moved into a second career in real estate with Prudential based in Milford.

While living in Amherst, NH for 32 years, Ken was active in the community. He was continuously involved with the sports his children played and coached a variety of different recreational teams in town. To become more involved with his children’s swimming, he trained to be a certified swim meet official. Ken fully retired three years ago and moved to Florida to spend time on the golf course, play poker with the guys and enjoy the beach.

As a dedicated husband and loving father, Ken was always there for his family. They didn’t even need to ask, and he was there to lend a helping hand.

Ken was predeceased by his brother, Tom.

Members of his surviving family include his wife, Evelyn (Grant) Callan of Milford, NH; a son and his wife, Chris and Suzanne Callan and their daughter, Samantha of Portland, ME; a daughter and her husband, Erin and Mark Sevilla of Goffstown, NH; a sister, Virginia Callan of East Montpelier, VT; nieces and nephews.

Friends called at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. A service followed at 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home and burial was in Proctor Cemetery, Andover, NH.
