Robert Ernest Carter
Robert Ernest Carter died November 28, 2014, at his home in Ridge Manor, Florida.
He was born on December 29, 1926 in Arlington, Massachusetts, where he grew up. He enjoyed tinkering with his cars, especially his Model A Ford. He was an avid skier and was an active member of New Hampshire ski clubs. Robert “Bob” will always be remembered for being his calm, cool and collected self with a quick wit, and telling the same jokes over and over again.
Robert graduated from Arlington High School and Northeastern University. He joined the Navy and was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. He worked for the MBTA driving street car in Boston before working for Raytheon. He then moved to Milford, New Hampshire in 1965 with his first wife Carol, where he built Milford Mobile Homes Estates and owned and operated Milford Paving Company. In 1983, he moved to Florida where he bought a campground and ran that until his retirement. He met and married Nancy Carso and they made a home together in Ridge Manor, Florida. Robert was predeceased by Nancy in 1993, and will now rest beside her at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Family members include his daughter, Kristin Marshall, sons Jeff Carter and Jay Carter, all of Milford, New Hampshire, stepdaughter Elizabeth Sutton of Spencer, Massachusetts, grandchildren Heather Marshall, Jeffrey Marshall, McKenzie Carter, Sydney Carter, Charles Carter, Ethan Carter, Heather Carey, Daniel Brown, and Barrie Lynne Sutton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trilby United Methodist Church, PO Box 456, Trilby, FL 33593-0456, where Bob has been an active member for years. Services were held Sunday, December 7, at 2 pm at Trilby United Methodist Church, 37504 Trilby Road, Dade City, Florida 33523 and burial was Monday, December 8, at 11:30 am at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
