She moved to Milford to teach school in 1963 and met her husband, Richard, that same year. They were married in 1965 and were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Nancy loved to read and went to work in the Wadleigh Memorial Library after her daughter started school.
She loved traveling and visited many countries including England, France, Italy and Germany, and also enjoyed trips to the Bahamas. She was a wonderful cook and baker and her desserts were enjoyed by all. Nancy was a very active member of The First Congregational Church of Milford, having served on many committees and as a deaconess. She volunteered much of her time for the Share Program, was a member of the “Lunch Bunch,” the Lioness Club and Milford Historical Society.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Roger Aldrich, and brother-in-law, Jim D’Amato.
She will be sorely missed by her husband, Richard D’Amato, of Milford; her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy D’Amato Lagrimas and John Lagrimas; and beloved grandson, Myles, all of Westwood, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Christine D’Amato, of Milford, and Nancy Aldrich, of Sugar Hill, NH; her nephew, Tony D’Amato, of Concord, NH; three nieces, Elena Ling, of Connecticut, Debbie Aldrich and Kathie Aldrich Cote, both of Sugar Hill, NH; and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held later in the spring. The family asks anyone wishing to make a donation in Nancy’s name to give to Share Outreach, Inc. 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH.
