Susanne Frolicher Holcombe
HOLCOMBE, Susanne Frolicher, 96, died peacefully in the company of her three children on Friday, April 10, 2015, after a short illness.
She was admired for being an accomplished artist, contributor to her community and strong athlete, playing tennis and skiing into her late eighties.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Susanne moved to the U.S. at age two with her parents, the late Otto and Gertrude (Escher) Froelicher. She grew up in Rowayton, CT, graduated from Vassar College and was married to Robert C. Holcombe for 67 years. They lived most of their married lives in Milford and in 2004 moved to RiverMead in Peterborough. Susanne was predeceased by her husband in 2008 and by her dear friend, Peter Hewitt in 2014.
She is survived by her son, Peter C. Holcombe (wife Kathy); daughters, Carolyn H. Damp (partner Larry Heath) and Joan Holcombe (partner Robert Civiak); grandchildren, Alexander Damp (wife Joanna), Hannah Larsen (husband Alex Garceau and daughters Sophie and Audrey), Faith Larsen (husband Keith Rourke), Christopher Holcombe and Benjamin Holcombe (wife Amanda).
Memorial Service on Sunday, June 28 at 4 p.m. at RiverMead, Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the RiverMead Resident Support Fund, 150 RiverMead Rd., Peterborough, NH 03458 and to HealthCare Nepal, George School 4455, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
