Bernard John Cass
MILFORD, NH: Bernard John Cass, 78, of Milford died Friday, May 1, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Cass, of Milford, his two daughters Lisa Whitten and Laurie Cass-Griggs of Antrim, NH, his son, Fred Cass of Swanzey, NH, a half-sister, Cheryl Cobb of Minnesota, and half-brother, John DeMain, as well as 10 grandchildren whom he loved very much.
Bernie was born March 17, 1937 in Detroit, MI, to John Lintner and Myrtle Renwick, and stepfather, Fred Cass. He later lived in many states including Florida, Alaska, Wisconsin, California, Utah, Texas and Nebraska before settling in New Hampshire. Bernie was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and he served his country proudly as a radar engineer. He attended Riverside Community College and worked for many years as an laser process Engineer.
After retirement, Bernie served as a member of the New Hampshire CERT team as well as part of the Census Bureau. He was a ham radio operator and had many interests including fishing, camping, scuba diving, swimming and photography.
Bernie loved nothing more than family and meeting new people. He enjoyed different cultures and spoke some Spanish. He was forever devoted to his children, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had a strong sense of humor and loved music and animals.
Bernie will be missed sorely by his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as his friends in other states.
The beauty of knowing him and sharing our lives with him goes deeper than anything else.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date to honor Bernie’s life and all those he touched.
