Wayne Colby Scott

Wayne Colby Scott, 66, longtime resident of Lyndeborough, NH, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2016, at his home with his family by his bed side, after a long hard fight with cancer.

Wayne was born in Framingham, MA, a son of Colby B. and Ruth O. (Stansfield) Scott. He grew up in Ashland, MA, where he attended schools and later received an associate degree in mechanical engineering from Franklin Institute of Boston. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he owned and operated Lyndeboro Steel Company for 20 years. He was an avid reader, loved to fish, canoe and enjoyed tinkering in the home and garage he built, as well as spending time with family. Wayne was a life member of the Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW, Milford, NH and past member of Bent-Burke Post #10 American Legion, Wilton, NH. In addition, he was a retired Lyndeborough firefighter, a former member of the Lafayette Artillery and Lyndeborough Budget Committee. In his earlier years, he was a Cub Scout leader and Little League coach. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking and canoeing with the Boy Scouts when his sons were in Scouting. Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam from 1968-1972.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Roger P. Scott. Family members include his wife of 45 years, Carol (Fothergill) Scott of Lyndeborough; their three children, Eric of Hillsborough, NH, Patrick of Lyndeborough, NH, Teri Simek and her husband, John of Mont Vernon, NH; four grandchildren, Rylee and Preston Scott, Samantha and Olivia Simek; a sister Carleen Dowd of Medway, MA; several nieces and nephews, two aunts and several cousins.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 6th from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Medical Center, 41 Mall Road Burlington, MA 01805; or Lyndeborough Fire Department, 9 Citizens’ Hall Road, Lyndeborough, NH 03082, Attn: Lyndeborough Firefighters Association.
