Michael B. McNamara

Michael B. McNamara, 59, of Milford, NH, died March 23, 2016 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Florida on Feb. 23, 1957, to the late Christopher and Ruth (Wade) McNamara and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. He visited New Hampshire at the age of 18 and loved it so much he never wanted to live anywhere else. Mike was employed at Hitchiner Manufacturing in Milford, New Hampshire for over 40 years, most recently as GTO Production Manager.

Mike is well known in New Hampshire in the competitive bass fishing circuit and represented the state on many State Teams at regional and divisional tournaments over the years. He was active in the New Hampshire Bass Federation, the FLW Outdoors and the New Hampshire Basscasters. Sharing his love for the lakes and bass fishing were his true passion. He was instrumental in creating several smaller tournament trails, Midweek events and especially the Sweetheart Trail – for fisherman to share their love for the sport with their sweethearts or children and to welcome newcomers to the sport he loved so much. He was larger than life at all these events and his enthusiasm was contagious. The friends he met through these organizations and teams were family to him and he loved them like brothers. His proudest moments were the tournaments he fished partnered with his daughters and he was so grateful they shared his love for the sport. The fact that his girls could beat many professionals was a great source of pride for him. The lakes will be much quieter this summer.

Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Ronald McNamara. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Sara (Favor) McNamara; two cherished daughters, Kelly Peake and husband James of Salem and Katie Gorski and husband Kevin of Lee; three beloved grandsons, Camden Peake, Johnhenry and Hayden Gorski, who meant the world to him; his much loved sister Donna McNamara of New Jersey; his mother in law Fay Favor of Merrimack; sister-in-law Jayne Champagne and her husband Peter and four nieces that held special places in his heart, Sara Omar of New Jersey, Abbey and Molly Champagne of Milford and Christine McNamara- Smith of Pennsylvania. He leaves many many friends he regarded as his family.

Memorial calling hours were held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Tuesday, March 29 from 5-7 PM. A service followed at 7 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
