Thelma Gray Savage
Thelma Gray Savage passed recently after a courageous battle with a blood disorder. Thelma was born on October 12, 1922, in Mont Vernon, NH, the daughter of Ralph B. and Pearl (Richardson) Gray. She was 93 years old and a native of Wilton, NH. Thelma graduated from Wilton High School as her class salutatorian, and then from the Concord School of Business.
Thelma’s past employment included a brief stint at Hitchner’s working in the cost accounting department followed by her career at Fryes Measure Mill which she owned from 1962-1982 with her late husband, Harland Savage. Thelma’s other great joy in life came from being a "Rebecca." After serving in Wilton for many decades she went on to pass thru the state chairs, becoming a past president for the state of NH. She went on to serve the organization for 60 years.
Thelma was a caring and warm wife, mother, and friend. She loved history, especially genealogy, and traced both sides of the family tree back to Europe.
She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Harland Savage.
Thelma is survived by her son, Ralph Savage, and his wife Maryanne, of Bonita Springs, FL; daughter in law, Pam; 6 grandchildren, Sandy, Leah, Matt, Seth, Sarah, and Kami; and 4 great-grandchildren, Kendra, Owen, Elijah, and Grayson. She was predeceased by her husband, Harland H. Savage, Sr., daughter, Carolyn Conklin, of Augusta, ME; and son, Harland Savage, Jr., of Wilton, NH.
