Edward L. Norton

Edward L. Norton, 92, resident of The Villages, Fla., died on May 24, 2016, in The Villages Regional Hospi­tal.

He was born in Milford, NH in 1923, the son of Thomas and An­nabel (Jacques) Norton.

During World War II, Ed proudly served his country as a bombardier in the Navy Air Corps station in the Philippines. He earned the Dis­tinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and numerous oth­er medals and rib­bons.

Ed worked for Lorden Lumber Company for several years in Milford, NH before opening his own company, Lowell Lumber Company in Lowell, Mass., until his retirement years later.

Ed was known for his laughter, jokes and most especially, he enjoyed his family.

He moved with his wife, Barbara, to The Villages in Florida in 2007.

He was predeceased by his son, Barry Norton, who died in 2014 and a sis­ter, Dorothy Cleaves.

Family members in­clude his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara (Ouel­lette) Norton of The Vil­lages, FL; his beloved daughters, Susan Ka­veckas and her husband, Leonard of Seaford, DE, and Colleen Norton of Santa Monica, CA; his four won­derful grandchil­dren, Sara Norton Lincoln, Shane Norton, Ethan Norton and Erin Norton Fiffield; and his pre­cious five great-grandchildren, Aiden Lincoln, Abby Lincoln, Lily Norton, Ga­briel Norton and Sean Fiffield; and a sister, Eunice Welch of Milford, NH.

Calling hours were held on Fri­day, May 27th, from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford.

Burial with military honors followed in River­side Cemetery, Milford.
