Frederick Lorden

Frederick Lor­den, 93, lifelong resident of Milford, NH, died on July 6, 2016, at the Com­munity Hospice House, Merrimack, NH surround­ed by his loving family.

He was born in Milford on June 29, 1923, a son of Den­nis F. and Mildred (Schempp) Lorden. Mr. Lorden was raised and edu­cated in Milford and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1941.

He joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II in the 483rd Anti- Aircraft Artillery Battal­ion. He saw action at the Palau and Ulithi Islands and participated in the in­vasion of Iwo Jima.

Mr. Lorden and his late brothers owned and oper­ated Lorden Lumber Com­pany in Milford until the mid-1980s.

He was a longtime mem­ber of the First Congrega­tional Church of Milford, where he had served on various committees and was also a member of the Milford Planning Board.

He was a dedicated family man, whether it was teaching them about nature and the outdoors, learning a new sport or ac­tively participating along­side them. Mr. Lorden was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed waterskiing, snow skiing and spending time at his camp on Lake Potanipo in Brookline.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Celia E. (Koivula) Lorden; two brothers, Francis Lorden and Kenneth Lorden; two sisters, Kathleen Halburg and Marian Lorden; and two sons-in-law, James Devine and Paul Jepson.

Family members in­clude eight children, Lin­da (Lorden) Devine, Elaine (Lorden) Schulze and her husband William, all of Amherst, Norma (Lorden) Glow and her husband Dean, Irene (Lor­den) Grant and her husband Robert, all of Brookline, Charlene (Lorden) Cahill and her hus­band Michael of Palm Beach Gar­dens, FL, Marcia (Lorden) Rumore and her husband Louis of New Boston, Dana Lorden and his wife Kristen of Hol­lis, and Michael Lorden of Milford; 24 grandchildren, Dennis and Chad Devine, Jill (Devine) Jubert, Pa­mela (Jepson) Lapierre, Jamie Glow, Ryan, Sara, Jared, Evan, Jessica, Han­nah and Seth Cahill, Louis and Angela Rumore, Katie (Schulze) Nadeau, Dylan Schulze, Kasey, Trevor, Alexandra, Caroline and Samuel Lorden, Robert, John and Erin Grant; 10 great-grandchildren, Ari­anna, Maddox, Evelyn, Timber, Riley, Paul, Micah, Noah, Adiela and Janessa; a sister, Dorothy Lorden of Epsom; many nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union St., Milford, NH.
