Joy Brewer
>Joy Brewer passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, July 28th, 2016, at the age of 85.
She was born in Melrose, MA, to Josephine White and Frederick Webber, along with her identical twin sister, Joanne. She graduated from Melrose High in 1949 and became a dental assistant after graduating from the Boston School of Dental Nursing in 1950.
Joy moved to Nashua, NH, with her husband Donald Brewer, where they had three children, Kenneth, Sandy and Joanne. The family then moved to Amherst, NH, and finally to Milford, NH.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was a devoted longtime volunteer with many organizations including Souhegan Nursing Association, Altar Guild at her church and the New England Peach Festival sponsored by the Church of our Saviour in Milford, NH.
Joy was very social, had numerous close friends and also enjoyed many activities including watercolor painting, tennis, golf, bridge groups, church events and a bowling group. She also loved playing cribbage with her son and going on adventures with her two daughters, and with the "WAGOs" (Women Against Growing Old).
She had a smile that would melt everyone who met her and she loved to laugh. Despite the challenges of life, Joy savored every day and especially held dear, the loving connections she had with family and friends. She was incredibly kind, sweet, gracious, lovely and was always a "trooper." She will be missed by many of the people in her life.
Joy is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Brewer and Joanne "Jo" Brewer, and her twin sister, Joanne Dickinson.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, August 18th, at 1 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, 10 Amherst Street, Milford NH. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please go to www.smith-heald. com.
