Michael Martin Ballou

Michael Mar­tin Ballou, devoted hus­band, father and friend, passed away, surrounded by loved ones and prayers from near and far on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the age of 62.

Michael Ballou, oldest of three children to Law­rence Goodfellow and Jeanine Marie Ballou, was born on August 15, 1954 at Lincoln General Hospi­tal and went home to his Grandparents on the Bal­lou Family Farm north of Ashland, Nebraska.

Upon graduating from Arvada West High School in Arvada, Colorado he joined the Navy where he was deployed to Okinawa, Japan and later to the Philippines.

In 1985, he married Deb­orah Cecile Olive of Atlan­ta, Georgia where they had two children. In 1999, the family relocated to Am­herst, NH to accommodate a work transfer to Boston, Massachusetts. Michael Ballou was employed with Delta Airlines for 37 years, where he worked as an aircraft inspector.

Michael was a mas­ter falconer through the North American Falcon­ry Association, an active member of NEGenWeb for Saunders County, Nebras­ka and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and a wide variety of inventive proj­ects. He was a very honor­able, multi-talented, and giving person.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ballou; daughter, Cecilia M Bal­lou; son, Michael "Mark" Ballou; brother, Douglas Goodfellow; sister, Kel­ley Goodfellow; his Uncle, Earl Ballou; and several cousins. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Amherst Congrega­tional Church, 11 Church Street, Amherst, NH, pre­sided by Pastor Richard G. Leavitt. A graveside memorial service will also be held at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, presided by Pastor Randy Hoskins of the First Congregational Church.
