William P. Long

William P. Long, 85, of Amherst, NH passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home with his loving fam­ily by his side.

William was born in Am­herst, NH on Sept. 17, 1931, to Charles and Ruth (Townes) Long, where he lived all his life.

William served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked at Lorden Lumber Company in Milford for most of his life and then was self-employed as a logger.

He was an avid outdoors­man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He most espe­cially loved being together with his family and spend­ing time with his great-grandson, Hayden.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Ruth Long Worrad.

William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally (Spooner) Long of Am­herst; two daughters, Su­san Long of Merrimack, Roberta Potter and her husband, Seth of Amherst; two granddaughters, Cas­sandra Hujsak and her husband, Keith of Amherst and Amanda Pot­ter of Natick, MA; his beloved great-grandson, Hayden Beauchesne of Am­herst; a brother, Al­vin Long; and sev­eral nieces.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, dona­tions in his memory may be made to Opportunity Net­works, 11 Caldwell Drive #7, Amherst, NH 03031.
