John A. Lynch
Dr. John A. Lynch, of North Falmouth, MA passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 after a brief illness. He was 90. He was the son of Frank Lynch of Peabody and Helen (Walsh) Lynch of Salem, MA and husband of 52 years to the late Joan (Enos) Lynch. Born and raised in Peabody, MA, he attended Boston College and went on to graduate from Tufts University Medical School in 1948. He served in the Korean War as part of the First Cavalry Division initially as a medic, and later as a surgeon. He rose to the rank of Captain. After this service, he joined the Veterans Administration and worked as a surgeon and teacher for over forty years in Manchester, NH. In this role, he also served as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery for Harvard Medical School for over 25 years.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is predeceased by his brothers Frank Lynch and Charles Lynch, his sister Mary Ellen Marrs, and his daughter Patricia. He is survived by his five sons, Michael and wife Susanne of Amherst, NH, John and wife Heather of Falmouth, Thomas of Cambridge, Peter and wife Mayre of Falmouth, and Stephen of Cambridge; and six grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed family get-togethers.
Visiting hours were from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1st, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 W. Falmouth Highway (Route 28A), West Falmouth, MA 02574.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 on Wednesday November 2nd at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Road, North Falmouth, followed by burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
