Robert K. Grassett

AMHERST, NH – Robert K. Grassett, 73, lifelong resident of Amherst, NH died peacefully at home on August 3, 2017.

He was born in Nashua, NH on May 13, 1944, a son of Kenneth W. and Madelene B. (Roby) Grassett. Bob graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1962.

He had been employed in the lumber industry for most of his career, having worked as a manager at Lorden Lumber Company, Milford for 20 years and Fortek Lumber Company, Billerica, MA for 18 years.

Bob enjoyed playing golf, vacationing in Florida in the winter and summered at Wallis Sands for 63 years. In his earlier years, he coached his boys in little league. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a charter member of the Amherst Jaycee’s and a member of the Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23, American Legion, Milford.

Bob was a U.S. Army Vietnam Era veteran and later served in the Army Reserves.

He was predeceased by a sister, Judy Webster.

Family members include his wife with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on August 31st, Lillian A. “Lee” Grassett of Amherst; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Grassett of Bedford, NH, Kurtis and Jennifer Grassett of Hancock, NH, Kevin Grassett and Elyata Tonnesen of Amherst, NH; seven grandchildren, Kody, Emily, Kimberly, Matthew, Joseph, Kalbie and Jacob; a brother-in-law, Harold Webster of Milford; two sisters-in-law, Gail Roberts of Greenback TN and Ann Roberts of Lyman, ME; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours are on Tuesday, August 8th from 4:00-7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cricket Corner Cemetery, Amherst, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Pillsbury Home, 95 High Street, Milford, NH 03055. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, Milford.
