Jane E. (Liberty) Mason
Jane E. Mason, 78, a longtime resident of Milford and Mont Vernon NH, passed on July 24, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones at Gulfside Hospice Center at Heather Hill in Newport Richey, FL after battling illness for the past few years.
She was born in Nashua, NH on April 28, 1939, daughter of Edgar and Marie (Wells) Liberty. Jane was raised and educated in Milford. Early in life, she was employed as a nurse’s aide for the former Liberty Nursing Home on Elm Street (owned and operated by her mother Marie) and later spent many years as a private in-home caregiver at the end of her career.
Additionally, besides being a mother to five children, she will also be remembered as hardworking and juggling careers as a long time waitress and hostess at the former Monarch Diner in Milford, an employee at OK Tool Company, as well as many years at the Milford Drive In Theater along with her husband Jim and two oldest children, Stephen and Debra.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, James Roy Mason (2004) and only son, Stephen Edward Atkinson, Jr (2006). Surviving children include Debra J. Tallarico of Litchfield, Ann M. Mason of Milford, Elsie J Golding of New Boston, Susan Mason-Brown of FL as well as several grandchildren.
Jane will be missed for her sense of humor, her contagious laugh, and ability to joke and tease in a fun loving harmless way. Even on her last difficult day, she was still able to laugh and joke with her doctor.
But most of all, she will also be greatly missed as a caring mother and friend who was always there to listen and offer guidance whenever she could.
A family burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mont Vernon NH on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017 where she will be peacefully laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the local American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive #110, Bedford, NH 03110. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please go to www.smith-heald.com.
