Fred R. Ross

MILFORD, NH – Fred R. Ross, 90, resident of Milford, NH, passed away unexpectedly, with his daughters by his side on December 5, 2018 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH.

He was born in Milford, NH on July 15, 1928, son of John S. Ross Sr. and Abbie J. (Burnham) Ross of Milford, NH. Fred was raised and educated in Milford and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1947.

He served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and retired in 1971. Following his military service he worked at Ross-Seeley Racing Company in Milford NH. Fred was later employed by and retired from Lockheed Sanders, Nashua NH.

He was a longtime member of the Benevolent Lodge #7 F & AM, Milford. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling with his wife, being with family and reading a good book. Fred and his truck were well known about town, often stopping to talk to neighbors and strangers alike.

Fred was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Mathilde “Hilde” (Hain) Ross who died in 2016.

Family members include two daughters, Carola J. “Carrie” Ross of Amherst, NH and Audrey B. Ross of Goffstown, NH; two brothers, Robert I. Ross of Milford, NH and David E. Ross of Amherst, NH; a nephew, John S. Ross III of Nashua, NH; and a niece, Kylee B. Ross of Amherst, NH.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 5:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shrinershospitalsforchildren.org or wounded
