Linda Louise Murphy

Linda Louise Murphy, 76, of Nashua, NH died Thursday March 12, 2015 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

Born October 7, 1938 in Nashua, NH she was the daughter of the late Loren and Bertha (Burns) Locke and widow of Edmund Murphy, who died March 29, 2010 and with whom she married on June 16, 1961 in Hollis, NH and celebrated forty-eight years of marriage.

She was a well-known member of the First Church in Nashua.

Linda was one of 7 graduates of her class of Hollis High School, and also St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, in which she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was extremely proud of her calling as a nurse.

Linda’s great-grandparents started Locke’s Ice Cream, in Hollis, where she would spend her summers working there for many years with her parents when they had taken over. People drove from miles away for a taste of Locke’s Ice Cream!

At one time, Linda worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and also at Greenbriar Healthcare for a long period of time, prior to her retirement.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James Murphy and his wife, Beth, of Londonderry, NH; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane Labonte and her husband Dany, of Nashua; one brother and sister-in-law, Bert Locke and his wife Alma, of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Kyle and Eric Labonte, Scott and Shayla Murphy. Other survivors include a brother-in-law Rob Murphy and his wife Peggy from Arizona, and a sister-in-law Ann Rooslet from Massachusetts, as well as several cousins and many long time friends.

She will be remembered as a very giving, loving person. She was most proud of her grandchildren, and spent many hours attending their many different sports and activities as a sideline cheerleader! Linda, Mom, Grammy, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you.

Services: Visiting hours were held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. A Funeral service was held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the First Church (Congregational) UCC., 1 Concord St., Nashua, NH 03063. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend and meet at church. Burial will take place in East Cemetery, Hollis, NH in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s loving memory to Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
