Dorthea Jean (Pixler) Peter

Dorothea Jean (Pixler) Peter, known as Dolly, 91, of Winchester, MA, and longtime resident of Merrimack, N.H., died late Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, N.H., after deteriorating lung complications.

She was born on September 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Reverend Wellington Corwyn Pixler and the late Nathalie (Vulliet) Pixler.

Dolly attended West Virginia Wesleyan University for two years and then completed her Bachelor’s degree at Simmons College in Boston, as well as her certificate as a Registered Nurse from the Deaconess Hospital. She married Felix Philip Peter in 1947. They had five children: David, Robert, Jean, Janet and Lila. Phil and Dolly raised their family in Arlington, MA, while Dolly worked as an R.N. at Tufts University in Medford, MA, and Phil worked for the U.S. Postal Service. They retired in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Dolly is predeceased by her husband Phil (2012), her son David (2008), two brothers, Richard and Gordon, and a sister, Constance.

In addition to her loving children, Dolly is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Jessica, Michael, Christopher, Britton, Lauren, Rasheed, and Brian, as well as her step grandchildren Laura and Estefi. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Lizzy and Emma, a granddaughter-in-law, Christine, and beloved nieces and nephews.

There were no calling hours. A private burial for immediate family members was held on Friday, February 14, at the Last Rest Cemetery in Merrimack. A gathering for family and friends will be held in her honor at a date to be determined.
