William James Koutroubas

William James Koutroubas, 88, from Merrimack passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2014.

He was born on January 1, 1926, in Tripolis, Greece to the late Demitrios and Angelina (Xagas) Koutroubas. Bill had lived in Winthrop, Dorchester, and Quincy, Massachusetts, before moving to NH in 1972. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

Mr. Koutroubas enjoyed traveling the U.S. for fun and as a truck driver for ARCO, Coca-Cola, and Trans-gas. He loved to tell amazing stories of his adventures on the road. He always wished everyone, “Happy Motoring.” He was a proud brother of Teamsters local 633. He was a communicant of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

William was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Donnelly) Koutroubas, a son William Koutroubas Jr., a great-grandson Nicholas, and his siblings, Angelo Koutrouba, Pauline Tapases, and Christine Sermos.

He is survived by three sons, James and his wife Gail of Hudson, Peter of Antrim, Paul of Antrim, two daughters, Catherine and her husband Robert Denis of Nashua, and Angela and her husband Mark Kazazian of Merrimack; twelve grandchildren, Alexander, Robert, Cynthia, Michael, Christina, Basili, Elizabeth, Catherine, Andrew, Marena, Jeremy and Annabelle; his great-grandchildren James, Alena, and Robert. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Everyone loved “Uncle Bill” and “Papou.”

The family wishes to express their deep and sincere gratitude to the entire staff of The Courville at Nashua for the wonderful care, support, and love they showed to Dad, Bill, Papou, Papa.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 9th at 1 p.m. at the St. Philip’s Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, NH
