Betty J. Walsh
Betty J. Walsh, 83, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Kindred Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Nashua after a period of declining health.
She was born on December 26, 1930, in Hudson Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Foster G. and Bessie M. (Lord) Holley.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Walsh, in 2007. They were blessed to have shared 49 years of marriage. She had been a resident of Merrimack for the past 41 years.
She attended high school in Hudson Falls, NY, and later completed a secretarial course of study. She began working at Glens Falls Insurance Co. in Glens Falls, NY, where she met her late husband. They started their family while living in Wisconsin and later lived in New York and Massachusetts before settling in New Hampshire.
She chose to put her working career on hold in order to remain at home and raise her three children. Over the years, she worked part-time from home doing typing and transcription for her husband. Once her children were grown, she returned to work for a period of time at several NH insurance companies.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always put her family first. Her two grandchildren brought her great joy.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting and needlework and loved gardening and watching the birds who visited her feeder. She had a special interest in genealogy and enjoyed helping her nephew, Bob, with research to document the family history. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Marion Willis; and brother, Daniel Holley.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Maureen A. Blanchard and her husband Thomas; two sons, Michael J. Walsh, and Patrick J. Walsh and his wife Karan; two grandchildren, Dillon and Briana Walsh; and many nieces and nephews.
