Peter H. Maccini, Jr.

Peter H. Maccini, Jr., 80, of Merrimack, NH, died on October 27, 2014, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. He was born in Framingham, MA, on August 6, 1934, the son of the late Peter H. Maccini and Mary (Ray) Maccini.

In 1953, he enlisted in the US Army, and served there until May of 1981, and retired as 1st Sgt. in Ft. Devens, MA. His assignments were in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Germany, and many bases in the US. He was a combat infantry man who served with valor.

In 1978, he moved to Merrimack, NH. After his retirement from the Army his jobs were in security. He worked many years for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department as a court officer, and retired from there in 2009.

Members of his family include his wife of 51 years, Maria Maccini; his sons, Peter H. Maccini, III, of Nashua, NH, and Patrick D. Maccini of Concord, NH; his daughters, Angelena M. Madsen of Lisbon, IA, Nicole S. Moore of Bristow, VA, Debbie Durham of Jackson, TN, and Suzzie Laramie of Collierville, TN; his grandchildren, Peter H. Maccini, IV, Mary, Nicolas, and David Maccini, Amy and Christopher Madsen, Caroline and Anthony Moore, Jama Durham, and Daniel Laramie; and his great-grandchildren, Alex, Harrison, and Faith Rose; his brother, Louis R. Maccini of Wabasha, MN; his sisters, Charlotte P. McGill of Ashland, MA, Anna M. Hobson of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Roberta M. Ianiro of Framingham, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

There were no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, VA, on November 8 at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in early 2015. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire.
